Feed Me

I tucked Batman into his nest last night and he stayed asleep all night long.

This morning he was ready to eat as soon as I took him out of his comfy bed.

I chewed up a grape and some peanuts into a paste – yes, kind of gross but at least it wasn’t worms.

He ate his breakfast right off my finger – this was the first of many breakfasts (he has already eaten at least 10 times and he has only been up for an hour and a half).

I snuck out for a 7.5 mile run while everyone was asleep – the only “me” time that I am gonna get today.

Between feedings I managed to get some nutrients into my own body. I made a hearty bowl of Pumpkin Oats.  I used my NutriBiotic Chocolate Rice Protein – I am hanging onto the Jay Robb for another day (I will be sad when it is gone).

I actually bought some Stevia packets and tried it out in my oats today.  I mixed one packet into the oats but I think that it could have used another. My finished result was not nearly as sweet as when I used the Jay Robb Chocolate Rice Protein.  It was still tasty and filling.

The boys wanted to playing Lego Star Wars on the Wii this morning. Now they are driving around my house on a hummer and a space ship (D’s ride on toys that are for indoor use only).

They still have not had breakfast. I think that the excitement of being together is affecting their hunger.

I think it is time to feed them and the bird (again).

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

We are having a sleepover

My sis and her husband have a wedding to attend tonight so we are having a sleepover.  We have 2 guest staying a Chez O’Toole tonight – Rocco and Batman (the baby bird). The little Chickadee can not be left alone because it needs to eat every 20 minutes – that is no lie. I told my sis that I would bird-sit. He really is the cutest little guy.

He lets me know when he is hungry – I have already fed him over a dozen times.

My sis gave me the low down on how to tuck him into his nest for beddie-bye tonight.  He better sleep through the night.

The boys have already made a disaster of my living room.

They are such goofballs.

Charlie had to rebuilt the Gunship that took us 4 hours to build the other night.  D said that it got blown up.

They both are on gluten free diets so dinner was simple – brown rice pasta with olive oil.  They both saw the cheese on my Sunshine patty and wanted to have some. It was the Almond cheese so I was not sure how well it would go over. Rocco gobbled it up but D was not a fan.

Bed time is definitely going to be interesting.  I hope that we all can actually get some sleep.  Otto will probably be the only one in the house who is able to have his bed all to himself.

Let me give you a quick recap of the days eats.  After my run this morning I made a bowl of Strawberry Banana oats using a packet of Jay Robb’s Strawberry Rice Protein powder.

We headed out to D’s karate class and then I came home and had a quick snack before I cleaned my house for 2 hours. I had 2 rice cakes with swiss cheese.

After I finished cleaning it was time for lunch. I had a salad (lettuce, broccoli, hummus, salsa and cottage cheese), an apple & PB and a Cocoa Loco bar.

This afternoon’s snack was Greek yogurt with cinnamon and a Mrs. Mays Trio Bar.

For dinner I had a Sunshine Patty with almond cheese and organic ketchup on a gluten free roll.

I also had a bowl of veggies – lettuce, zucchini, red pepper and sweet potato. I drizzled on some Maple Grove Farms Strawberry Balsamic dressing. The sweetness from the dressing went perfectly with the sweet potato.

I have had to stop typing and feed the baby twice during this post – he is a hungry little guy.

That is the craziness around my homestead this fine Saturday. I hope that you guys are enjoying your weekend.

See you tomorrow.

Happy Belly

Tonight is the first night in a while that we put our little guy into bed with a happy belly. He ate lots of healthy gluten, dairy and egg free foods today. One of the things I got him to eat was a JamFrakas bar.  I packed a Larabar for myself to eat after I was finished cleaning and he had the JamFrakas.  I am not sure that he really cared for it but I made him eat the whole thing – I know what a meany.

We stopped at TJ’s on the way home so I didn’t want him to be a starvin marvin while we were at the store.  The amount of groceries that I can actually purchase there is slowly dwindling.  I bought my Greek yogurt & Charlie’s yogurt, cereal for Charlie, sunflower seed butter for Charlie (he is not that crazy about the Once Again brand which is my favorite), jelly for Charlie (he eats a SB&J everyday for lunch), Swiss cheese, broccoli, salsa, 2 Larabars and chocolate wedges for D & C (none for mommy – they contain soy).  That is so much less than I used to get.

When we got home I made a salad with the rest of my nutritional yeast veggies, spinach, salsa and chic peas.  I also had 2 rice cakes with melted Swiss.

I ended lunch with an apple and PB.

We did not have that much excitement after that. I needed to chat with my sis for a few – Rocco is sleeping over tomorrow and I needed to get the low down.

I snacked on this bar this afternoon. Not sure why it says GIANT – that it was not but it did taste good.

For some protein I had 1/2 a cup of plain Greek yogurt spiced with cinnamon.  I love that bunny spoon.

D and I ran to Whole Foods to get the items that I could not buy at TJ’s like Sunshine Burgers, golden delicious apples, a huge container of greens (mommy needs her salad fixins), zucchini, all beef hot dogs for D (per his request) and I actually bought stuff for dinner.  Yes I was lazy and bought premade chicken for myself since the label was present and it was all tummy friendly ingredients.  I picked up sushi for the big man.  D ate one of his hot dogs on a gluten free roll so dinner was easy.  I topped a salad (lettuce, broccoli and hummus) with some of the BBQ chicken. I also had a Swiss cheese sandwich on gluten free bread.

Dessert was chocolate - a good amount – I was in need of something sweet.

Time to go relax. Have a good night.

My Favorite Flavor is

Nope, not the Chocolate. I LOVE the Vanilla.  I tried this packet in my oatmeal this morning.  I have now sampled all 3 flavors which are all super delicious.  I just really enjoyed the Vanilla the most.  I think that it would be the most versatile too.

Today I am heading to my sister-in-law’s house to clean so I prepared a breakfast of champions.  This was 3/4 cup oats cooked on the stove with LOTS of water and the Chocolate Rice Protein.  Once it was finished cooking I added pumpkin and 1/3 a banana.

I then tossed on the remainder of the banana and a drizzle of Sunflower Seed Butter.

This bowl was a real winner.

Today I went to the gym and did one of Jillian Michaels Hot Bod in a Box Circuit Training workouts.  Once again it did not disappoint.

Here is what Jillian says about Circuit Training and why it is a good way to exercise.

Circuit Training simply means performing a series of selected exercises or activities in sequence as rapidly as possible. This allows you to achieve the benefits of systemic aerobic exercises.  Additionally, with circuit training, you can perform more exercises in the same period of time, thus burning more fat because of better fatigue management.

I wore my heart rate monitor today while I did the circuit training workout.  I completed each circuit twice for a little more challenging workout.  It took me 50 minutes and I burned 252 calories.  I think that if you are crunched for time and need a workout, then a circuit could really fit into your routine.

Have you ever done Circuit Training?  If so, what did you think of it? If not, does it sound like something you would like to try?

Time to go tackle the dust bunnies.  I hope you have a great Friday.

Black Cap Chickadee

This afternoon was rather interesting. I got to take care of a baby Black Cap Chickadee at my sis’s house. Her brother-in-law had to cut down a tree in his yard due to the fact that it was dropping branches all over his yard. Unfortunately, there was a nest with 7 baby birds in the tree. The mommy bird fled the scene and the baby birds were left on their own. My sis took 5 and he kept 2.  She has been doing her best to take care of them but only 1 has survived. I had to feed the little one every 20 minutes – he’s quite the eating machine.  I used a dropper and it would open it’s mouth for me to feed it.  I knew it was hungry because it would start to cheep and flap it’s wings until it got my attention. Once it had a bite to it would calm down and nod off to sleep which was only a quick 20 minute nap. The Chickadee was so cute, I really hope that she has success with this guy.

Onto food. I made a batch of Nutritional Yeast Veggies and decided to show you how I make it.

First I chop up the veg – 1 red pepper, 1 zucchini and 1 summer squash.

I then add fresh squeezed lemon juice, a few tbsp of water, lots of Nutritional Yeast and chili powder.

I toss it all together and let it sit in the fridge for a few hours.  The final picture is the finished product with all the saucy goodness.

I had some in my salad at lunch and it was delicious.

It was even better in my dinner salad – the longer it sits the better it gets.

For dinner I also had a Sunshine veggie burger topped with Almond cheese.  I bought this cheese for D who has not been eating it.  I don’t want it to go to waste so I will try to use it up.  It is not that flavorful – kind of bland. It is a good thing that the Sunshine patty is super flavorful – the cheese needed help.

I ate the patty on a Gluten Free roll with organic Ketchup and 365 brand veggie chips.

I also had 4 small squares of dark chocolate – a little sweet ending.

I am so ready for bed. I hope that I can make it there early tonight.  So far my little man’s tummy is feeling good although the night is not over yet.  I am keeping my fingers crossed for a tummy ache free evening.

I hope you had a good day.  I am cleaning in the AM so I d need to rest up.  See you in the morning.

Not Our Typical Evening

Last night it took us almost 4 hours to build the new Lego Star Wars kits.  We let D stay up with us – that was a treat. I am usually a stickler when it comes to his bedtime.  He ended up falling asleep in the living room in our big comfy chair (that explains why he is still in the same shirt this morning). We did not have a typical evening last night – we let the rules slip a bit.  I think that both Charlie & I just wanted D to have a good night after the appointment that traumatized all 3 of us.

This morning he woke up and immediately went looking for this.  That is the Gunship which contains over 1000 pieces.

I love his bed-head.

I built Ahsoka’s Starfighter and Vulture Droid,  then I helped Charlie finish the Gunship. If I left him to do it all by himself it would have taken more like 6 hours to complete. That thing is intricate.

I ended up getting to bed close to midnight and had the hardest time staying asleep – way too many thought going through my head. Even though I slept horribly, I was so ready to get out of bed at my normal hour.  It was drizzling out this morning but that did not stop me – I needed to feel the pavement under my feet.

For breakfast this morning I used Jay Robb’s Strawberry Rice Protein.  My appetite is a little off so I decided to make a hearty breakfast just in case I am not in the mood for too much chow later in the day.

I cooked up some stovetop oats mixed with the protein powder and water.  When it was finished cooking I mixed in a few strawberries and 1/2 a banana.

I topped it off with more strawberries and the rest of the banana.

DSC01669 DSC01670

Jay Robb did it again.  The protein powder was delicious.  It was so sweet and yummy.  Where has this stuff been my whole life?  I would have never found it if it weren’t for blogging.  That is one of the perks of reading blogs – I have discovered so many amazing products.

So today I developed the Twitter bug.  I am not sure how often I will be able to twitter but I thought that I would let you all know that I am now “IN”.  Sometimes I feel so “OUT” – being a stay at home mommy has that effect. How many of you are on Twitter?  What do you like about it? Do you follow a lot of people? I can see it being addicting.

I can not believe how long it has taken me to get this post up. I have had to fix that Gunship a billion times.  Now he is requesting oatmeal. I must go and feed my little man seeing as I have not been able to get him to eat much the past few days.

We are heading to see D’s partner in crime this afternoon. My sis has an appointment so we are staying with my nephew while she scoots out for a few.

Enjoy your day.
