Eating Smoked Salmon

This afternoon I picked up TJ's Pumpkin Butter which made an appearance in my afternoon snack.

It made my plain FF Chobani & TJ's High Fiber cereal taste like dessert.

For dinner my little man ate a whole 3oz package of smoked salmon - this kids LOVES this stuff. He and daddy usually share one but when we were at TJ's he asked for his own.

For dinner tonight I had a turkey and cheddar cheese sandwich on Ezekiel bread. I bought Applegate Farms Natural Herb Turkey today - for some reason I really wanted this for dinner.

For dessert I made a mini "mess" - Chobani, canned pumpkin, banana, a few Cinnamon Puffins and sunflower seed butter. Where would I be without my plain yogurt - I am an addict.

I was able to have a little "me" time on the treadmill. I did a nice hill climb for 4.5 miles - kind of different being at the gym with the night crowd. There is definitely a difference from the early morning gang of mommies.
I was asked to post my circuit workout that I did earlier today. I don't know if all the names of the exercises are correct - remember I am not a trainer, this is just what I like to do.
I do 3 sets of each exercise and I usually do 12 -15 reps per set.
Set 1:
Bicep Curl 12-15lbs
Hamstring Bend 15lbs
Tricep Kickbacks 10lbs
WaterRower 15 minutes

Set 2:
Overhead Shoulder Press 15lbs
Bent Over Row 15lbs
Overhead Tricep Extension 10lbs

Set 5:
Abs (V Ups, Seated twists)
Peck fly 30 lbs
Resistance band (hip abductor & glutes exercises)

No more Driving

I am so glad to be home - driving around all afternoon is such a pain in the butt. I accomplished my errands and I got to stop at TJ's. I found pumpkin butter too - I'll let you know what I think once I have tried it.
I decided to do a workout at home today which was great. I alternated between lifting and the WaterRower. The workout that I came up with took me about 1hr & 50 min - it was great. I do kind of a circuit type workout with four 15 min. cardio sets (rowing) between weight lifting sets. I was thinking about a run but it is raining again - what is the deal with the weather lately?

Lunch today was a nice bowl of all things yummy - Jade Pearl rice, cuke, an apple, sunflower seed butter and cinnamon.

I also had some crunchy baby carrots and ......

a mix of cottage cheese and TJ's Greek yogurt with a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Running in my Dreams

It isn't that often that I wake up and remember what I was dreaming, well, today I did. I was trying to run some sort of race through the woods but my legs felt like heavy bricks. In my dream I was getting so annoyed at my lack of speed despite the intense effort I was putting into the competition. When someone would pass me I tried to speed up but my body stayed in the same place - very odd dream. Does it have any meaning? I always wonder about that - what do you think?

This morning I had a my "messy" bowl of pumpkin , yogurt, Kashi GoLean, Cinnamon Puffins and sunflower seed butter. Can you tell that I am a lover of all things pumpkin? I have been jonesing for some pumpkin butter - time to hit up TJ's and see if they sell some. I love to mix it with cottage cheese and yogurt, mmmmmmm.

I am going to the gym this morning and then running a few errands this afternoon. We need trash bags but we have an under the sink garbage bag called Rack Sac. We have a trash eating furry friend so this was the solution. The only downside is, I have to buy the special bags for it and I can only buy them at Bed Bath & Beyond even though I bought the thing at Linens-N-Things. I have to go to the Foxboro BB&B, but I am kind of looking forward to seeing what else they have added to the Patriot Place Complex. I also need more vacuum bags for my Oreck - another type of bag that I need to travel to purchase. The good thing is there is a TJ's next to the Oreck store : ) It is a lot of driving today so hopefully my sidekick will keep his cool - bribery might necessary.

That's not Nail Polish

Weird title, I know, but I will explain in a moment.
This afternoon I snacked on a Z Bar but I mixed it ..........

with some TJ's Greek yogurt. This was my first time trying chocolate and greek yogurt - so delish, what took me so long.

For dinner I roasted onion, red pepper and a small potato with a teaspoon of olive oil and curry powder. Once out of the oven, I topped it with a little shredder cheddar cheese.

I also had Ezekiel bread, a small banana and a tablespoon of sunflower seed butter.

My honey had a feast - roasted chicken that I rubbed with a curry powder & sunflower oil paste, roasted beets and sauteed beet greens.
He had to run to CVS tonight so I asked him to bring me back nail polish. He gave me a funny look - I was serious. I told him to pick out a color - anything but yellow.

Well he was a little embarrassed so instead he came home with this.

That's right, he bought me a hormone free frozen treat from Whole Foods, NOT nail polish. He and D had been eating their desserts but mommy couldn't indulge with them - they contained dairy that might infect my face with evil beings. I think he felt bad and I did make him a kick a** dinner.
In that bowl is not 1 but 2 flavas - B&J's Banana Split (I normally don't eat reg. ice cream but it has been so long and this is hormone free so I said what the hell, go for it girl) and Sweet Scoops Pumpkin Frozen Yogurt. Yes, they tasted awesome together. If you haven't tried pumpkin with chocolate - you must. I know a certain little man who is going to go crazy for the Pumpkin Frozen Yogurt - maybe another movie moment : )

I like to Mix

I guess you could call my lunch a "mess" too. I have expressed my desire to mix crunchy, chewy and creamy foods. Each one attributing a different but lovely sensation as they mingle in my mouth.
For today's lunch I combined cottage cheese, apple (the sweetest gala apple I have ever had - from my picking stash), zucchini, wheat berries (2nd time trying and I love, love, love them), dried cranberries, sunflower seed butter and a decent sprinkle of cinnamon.
Can I just say that wheat berries are the BOMB - can't get any chewier than these little specks of joy and they have some nuttiness to them. I got a bite that was wheat berries, a cranberry, cottage cheese and sunflower seed butter - the combination of flavors was heavenly.

I also had a side of baby carrots.

The gym was good - D hung-out with the dudes and I got to work up a decent sweat. Yeah, gross but that is how I judge a good workout and I am a serious sweater - double gross. (don't even go there Charlie)
It finally stopped raining but the sun has decided to take yet another day off. Thankfully it is a decent temperature out there. I actually have a few windows open - I love the fresh air.

Rain, Rain GO AWAY!!!!

I am so sick of rain, it has been raining since Friday. I think that it is supposed to stop by noon today but then more rain on Wednesday - at least the weekend ahead is looking good.

Today was a messy "mess" of pumpkin pie - mmmmmmm! I restocked my supply of canned pumpkin and yogurt so I am all set for the week : ) I went for Kashi GoLean and Cinnamon Puffins instead of the PB Pows. The plain yogurt was tangy but the sunflower seed butter was sweet which complimented all the flavors as a whole.

D requested that we go to the gym today so I am not going to argue with him - we will be heading there shortly. As for the rest of our day - uneventful at this point. I would really like to see my sissy but I am not sure what they are doing today. I hope you all have a great morning. Happy Monday!

He likes Rice Cream

Here it is - a luscious fresh loaf of bread for my honey to make his sunbutter & jelly sandwiches for lunch this week. I love the aroma from the baking bread that filled my house today : )

My dinner was a sunflower seed butter & banana sandwich on Ezekiel bread. The veggies were dipped into jalapeƱo mustard for a little kick.

I tested the Good Karma on my little man - it was a hit - he likes rice cream.
There is a little glitch in the video - sorry. I hope you enjoy my superstar.

Re-powered

Thank you HONEY!!! He saved the day with a new power cord for my computer. Yesterday a certain little person kicked the old one off a chair - yeah, it broke and left mommy without her blog for like 24 hours. I was having withdrawals : ) So instead of bombarding you with pictures of my food that we all know is always the same because I tend to be boring like that, I am just going to show a few. I will start fresh tomorrow.

My Sunday morning "mess" was yogurt, canned pumpkin, Kashi GoLean, 365 PB Pows and sunflower seed butter. I really love the flavor of the PB Pows but they are not very filling (very little fiber) - time to switch back to Puffins or Weetabix in the AM.

I made a new rice, Lundberg Wild Blend - it is super nutty and chewy. For lunch I mixed it with some cuke, zucchini, apple and sunflower seed butter. I had cottage cheese on the side for some protein.

I have also eaten one of these babies today - yummy!!!!

I have a super duper headache right now and I am really hungry but I am not in the mood to cook - what to do??? My huz has a loaf of fresh bread that I just made in the bread machine and a fridge full of food so I am sure he won't starve tonight. I can probably throw a waffle at D and call that I dinner. I might be back later - maybe I will show a picture of my bread. The season premiere of Desperate Housewives is on tonight and I really want to watch it. I don't have a show that I watch religiously but I used to be addicted to that one.
I hope you all have had a great weekend - mine, well, it is STILL RAINING!!! It's been kind of boring around here, although, I did read over 100 pages yesterday. That was probably because I wasn't able to read any of your blogs. That's all for now - see you later.

A Pow of Flavor

Hello blogland!
I hope your Saturday is going well. It is still rainy here - yuck! I went to the gym solo this morning - D & Daddy stayed home and watched Power Rangers. Before I left I had a new "mess" ingredient - 365 Organic Peanut Butter Pows - my new favorite cereal : )
I was debating between PB Puffins and these - so glad I opted for the Pows. I love Puffins but the PB flavor of this cereal is incredible - I am thinking about my afternoon snack already - I think the Pows just might have to make a second appearance today.
The concoction for breakfast today was plain nonfat yogurt, canned pumpkin, Kashi GoLean and PB Pows - delish!

For lunch I cooked some Lotus Foods Jade Pearl Rice and let it chill in the fridge for a while.

I added it to my plate of carrots, zucchini, apple, cottage cheese and sunflower seed butter. This is my first time trying this rice - I am usually a brown rice girl but I really liked the nutrition facts of this one. It has 10 grams of fiber and 5 grams of protein per 1/4 cup (which is what I cooked). It gets the green hue from bamboo which makes it rich in chlorophyll. I like having another grain option - I will be making this quite often.

Divine Dessert

This afternoon D had a great time playing with his great-grampy, they were really cute together. My Nana is all curly for the reunion tomorrow. My gramps even thanked me for doing her hair for her - like I would say "NO". I packed 1/2 a TJ's greek yogurt and a Kashi granola bar for a snack while I was out.

Dinner was an egg white omelte filled with cheddar cheese, cherry tomatoes, Ezekiel bread with sunflower seed butter and......

......an apple. That's #2 of the day because I don't have any other fresh fruit to choose from. Time to get to the grocery store and restock my supply.

To satisfy my sweet tooth this evening I tried something new - Good Karma Rice Divine Carrot Cake frozen dessert. I've had soy based varieties but this was the first for a rice based treat. I actually like this much better - the flavor and texture were perfect. I was in heaven as I savored each sweet bite with an occasional chunk of cake. They have other flavors which I am looking forward to trying in the near future. I am going to to see if my little man would like to try this - I think this is a great healthy alternative to ice cream, which he is a huge fan of.

My simple pleasures

I get so excited when I have all kinds of goodies to add to a salad - one of my simple pleasures in life is a delicious salad, oh how I love them!!! The combination of textures, tastes and colors are so pleasurable to this here girlie. If you ask D what is mommy's favorite food he says "salad". My little sidekick sure does know me well.

Rainy Friday

Today is a very gloomy day - rainy and cold. I am going to my Nana's house to give her a perm this afternoon. She is going to my Grampy's high school reunion and wants to get all dolled up for the occasion.
I did go for the pumpkin pie "mess" again. I had no choice, D ate the last banana this morning and I needed to add something for flava. Just like yesterday it was incredibly delish.

We are off to the gym - I think D's old buddy will be there today.

Overstuffed Omelet

I managed to get a few loads of laundry washed, dried and folded - the putting away part comes later. Well, I did put the towels away, no excuse when I was folding them two steps away from their home. D and I played on Sesame Workshop, PBSkids.org and Webkinz - they have tons of educational games that he really enjoys playing. He really only needs minimal help surfing the sites - he has become quite the little computer geek - just like daddy : ) We did move on to playing with Legos for a little while - one of my favorite activities. I did manage to sneak in a snack - TJ's Greek Yogurt, Kashi GoLean and sunflower seed butter.

For dinner I made on overstuffed omelet - 2 egg white, 1 whole egg, broccoli, tomatoes and shredded cheddar cheese.

For dessert I made a little concoction out of some chilled polenta I made today. I cooked 1/4 cup Bob's Red Mill polenta with 3/4 cup water, threw it in a bowl and then the fridge. To serve, I mixed in a banana - simple yet very delish. I know it sounds a bit odd - but it was good.

I just made myself a cup of Blueberry Tea - Celestial Seasonings brand. I have a date with HP - I am making good progress.

I am really looking forward to the pumpkin pie "mess" so don't be disappointed if I repeat todays b-fast. I know I am so boring in the morning - please forgive me. I get very excited by for my AM yummies (I am a simple person). It is my fav. meal of the day - such a sweet, creamy and satisfying way to start my day.

The never ENDING pile

I swear to you I am forever doing laundry. I of course threw a load in the wash yesterday but then went out for the afternoon and it stayed there all night, ugh. I just went downstairs (our washer & dryer are in the basement) and I was greeted by heaping loads of dirty clothes. I really thought that I had caught up - yeah, well then 2 days go by and the piles are BACK. I guess I know what I am doing this afternoon. Sorry Honey you will have oodles of clothes to put away tonight. That's right, I wash his clothes but he puts them away - he is a goodie like that.
Lunch today was an "everything but the" platter. I was in the mood for a bunch of things so I threw them all on one plate and called it delish!!!! Here is a rundown of what was in that monstrosity:

cherry tomatoes (red & yellow - from my sissy)

Pumpkin Pie for Breakfast

Today I opted for canned pumpkin in my "mess" instead of the banana. The combination of Cinnamon (from the puffins) and the pumpkin tasted like a delicious pumpkin pie. It was so creamy with all that yummy plain yogurt coating each bite. Of course for some more bulk I added Kashi GoLean. The sunflower seed butter drizzle adds another layer of flavor which I savor each time I get a taste.

I can't believe it is already Thursday, this week is flying by. I am taking D to the gym - he is in a better mood this morning. I am not sure what we are doing after that.

Sorry for the Delay

D and I were at my sissy's house today so I apologize for skipping my lunch time post. I packed my goods to take along with me - another delicious apple from the ones I picked on Sunday and

a mix of TJ's 0% Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, canned pumpkin, cooked & chilled brown rice, almonds and a bunch of cinnamon over the top. A Fall feeling meal all the way.

This afternoon I snacked on a Pure Protein bar.

I was planning a run when Charlie came home so dinner was light - cherry tomatoes from my sis, summer squash & zucchini, Ezekiel bread with sunflower seed butter & shredded mozzarella cheese which got way too brown in the toaster oven. I guess that is what happens when you try to feed a 3 yr. old and make your dinner at the same time. Oh well, it still tasted fine.

I went out for a nice 5 miler - love the cooler air while running. When I got back I had an apple and a cheddar cheese stick. I am loving my apples - they are so much better than any ones you can buy at the grocery store.

I would like to read a bit tonight. By the way, I am reading Harry Potter 7 not 6. I guess I lost count on the # of books that have been published or just a bit dopey these days. I think that comes with being a mommy.
I took 3 of the posters I am painting to show my sis and she is very happy with how they have come out. D had a good time playing with Rocco and I had a nice time chatting with my girlie.

Slept off the Pain

Thankfully I woke up with no pain in my back - my 8+ hours of sleep did me good. It is soooooo cold in my house again - but I am really enjoying getting all cozy in my robe and slippers - a nice warm cup of coffee helps too : )
My breakfast was pretty much a repeat of yesterdays. I couldn't resist the Cinnamon Puffins.
I will spare you the boring details - I am sure you all can look at the bowl and guess what is in my "mess", especially if you have been reading my blog for a while. I am addicted to this breakfast. I've tried to mix it up a bit with other things but this just tastes so good that I love this as a start to my day.


My little monster seems to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed today - ugh!! He has a serious case of the grinchies. Hopefully he will snap out of it and we can have a decent day.

My Aching Back

At least I only have one more to go - poster that is. Bending over my dining room table this afternoon and again this evening has lead to serious back pain - my hamstrings are feeling a bit achy too. I had to stop painting for a little while and get out of the house. I took D out on his bike; the only problem is we live on a very busy street so I had him ride down to a nearby cul-de-sac. Of course he had to get off and make me pull it around so "Sonic" could run for a little while - that was also great for my back. We were out for over an hour which was much needed. Before we went out I had some TJ's 0% Greek yogurt and the biggest honeycrisp apple from my stash - this apple was the size of a softball and it was delicious.
We met the sweetest old lady today - her name is Sigrid and when she asked D his name he told her it was "Sonic". She walked with us for a little while as we were walking back home. I felt bad leaving her to walk alone but I have seen her out before so I know she walks solo quite often. I invited her to come over if she needs some company - she mentioned missing her grandchildren - I hope she stops by sometime when she is out walking.

After our little adventure I made some protein pancakes:

6 egg whites
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
1/2 cup uncooked oatmeal
1 tsp baking powder

I just mix it all together and then cook in a pan that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. The nutrition facts without the cheese and sunflower seed butter are, 280 cals, 3 grams fat, 36 grams carbs, 9 grams fiber, 25 grams protein. I omitted the baking soda and used baking powder only - I think that made the texture more pleasant. I liked the last batch I made but I have to say these came out soooo fluffy. I was reading about b.soda & b.powder in my King Arthur Flour books and b.soda needs an acid in order to reach properly and neutralize or the end result might taste soapy. Since my recipe lacked an acid I didn't want to be eating a soapy sponge for dinner so I used the b.powder instead which has a perfect balance of acid and soda. Therefore, my cakes would not taste nasty but they would puff up nicely. I would say mission accomplished.

I did have a mini soy cream sandwich for dessert - no picture - you have seen them the last few days so I am sure you remember how cute they are.
My honey took over bedtime duties so I could paint the evening away - thanks lovey!!! I feel like my life is all Harry Potterish - these posters & my book. I was dreaming about HP last night after reading my book and my dreams were rather unpleasant - like death and horrible creatures - yikes!!
I promise to post picture of my finished products when I am done - hopefully within the next few days.

Pretty Plateful

My lunch today was definitely a feast for my eyes - I love the colors and textures all on one plate. Of course it didn't stay pretty because I ended up mixing things together - it tasted great. I love the Chipotle Pepper hummus that I picked up at TJ's the other day - it has great spiciness. Also on my platter (yeah that is a nice big plate) I had a cup of brown rice (cold), cottage cheese, summer squash & zucchini, a mix of salad from a bag and almonds. A winner combo!

I really need to finish painting the posters for Mac's b-day - it is only a few weeks away. So my afternoon will be just that - D-man is going to hang out with me and maybe use the computer for a little while. At least I don't have to worry about dinner - Charlie is getting leftovers : )

I love Cinnamon

I seriously think that cinnamon is my all time favorite flavor. I really enjoy it in sweet dishes but it also works well in savory dishes - I've seasoned chicken burgers with it and they tasted great.
This morning I looked to my good old box (well, D's box, but he hasn't been eating them) Cinnamon Puffins for a burst flavor in my "mess". I mixed the cinnamon goodies with my yogurt, a banana, Kashi GoLean and a drizzle of sunflower seed butter. Cinnamon Delight!!!!

We have moved onto pretty chili weather here - looks like 60's all week. It was only about 40 degrees this morning - yikes!! But I do love the Fall. You can't beat the crisp cool air and the beautiful colored leaves.
